Young Audiences of San Diego
Through the creative arts, we inspire, motivate and challenge children to achieve their full potential; we provide professional development for teachers and artists; and we lead the community in advocating for more arts education in schools.
Now celebrating our 47th year, Young Audiences of San Diego is the oldest and largest San Diego nonprofit whose sole mission is arts education, encompassing music, dance, theatre, visual arts and creative writing. Part of the national Young Audiences network, YASD supports local education agencies, grades K-12, filling a gap with its arts education programs at more than 100 schools and community sites throughout San Diego County.

AMERICA SINGS
From the troubled times of the Civil War, through the end of the 20th century, the music of the people speaks the history of their hopes and hearts. By singing the popular and folk music of a selected period, students will gain new insights into the culture and history of America and California! These two professional vocalist/musicians introduce elements of musicianship, vocal production, performance and presentation techniques. Collaborative planning with the classroom teachers will result in a unique project suited to the school's curriculum.
Grades: K-1, 2-3, 4-6 |
